CDW Systems nominated in “Aluminium Company” category for 2019 National Fenestration Awards
Our sister company, CDW Systems, the Gloucester based trade and commercial fabricator has been announced as a finalist in the “Aluminium Company” category at the 2019 Fenestration Awards.
Entering its seventh year the National Fenestration Awards offer a unique alternative to traditional industry awards; instead of judging panels deciding the outcome the NFAs are voted for by those who work within the fenestration industry itself.
Mike Davis, Managing Director of CDW Systems commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have been nominated for an award at the NFAs and we thank our industry peers for putting forward our company. Our focus has always been on working with our customers to help them complete high quality projects using our broad range of aluminium doors and windows. An award nomination of this caliber is an unexpected surprise and is testament to the dedication of our talented staff. We couldn’t be more proud.”
During the past year notable achievements for CDW Systems include increased sales of the Reynaers CP130 lift & slide patio door as well as the introduction of Sapa: Technal’s Crown flush casement and folding sliding door. Also they now offer fully fabricated Crown and Dualframe Residential Doors with very competitive lead times.
CDW, part of the East Manor Group of companies, have also renewed their Secured by Design accreditation and supported door automation specialists Prosale Ltd with their installer training initiative.
Voting for the NFAs is now open; to vote for CDW industry professional can visit www.fenistrationawards.co.uk/aluminium-company-2019
Polling ends of 4th October at 10pm and CDW will find out whether they have been successful during “Winners’ Week” which begins on Monday 7th October.
CDW Systems were founded in 1992 and has firmly established itself as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of high quality aluminium fenestration products. Supplying trade and commercial installation companies across the UK, CDW manufacture aluminium windows, doors, shop fronts, and curtain wall systems from Sapa: Technal, Reynaers, ALUK and Smart Systems.

ALLAN’S 100K CHALLENGE
Allan Little, our Group Production Director, is always up for a challenge, especially if it involves running. In his own words he tells us about his latest venture which has a very personal goal at its heart:
I am running 100K (62 miles) in a day around the Chiltern countryside to raise money for an underfunded charity called Papyrus which is prevention of suicide of young people (under 35’s).
I took up running 8 years ago after suffering from mental health issues which resulted in me considering the unthinkable. You could say running saved my life and since that very first half Marathon, I have run that distance nearly 60 times, ran 5 Full Marathons and completed my first Ultra last year (53 miles).
It’s fair to say, running that distance nearly broke me so typically I needed to take it to the next level but this time with the motivator of giving something back to mental health.
Other than the obvious connections one of the other reasons for choosing Papyrus was because my friend and colleague Nathan Hewett’s brother, Darren Hewett took his own life last year after years of suffering from mental illness. I was honoured to be asked to run in his memory and if he’s watching/listening, you will be the one getting me through the dark times on race day.
I have been training for nearly 4 months having covered nearly 500 miles in all winds and weathers, the race is just days away and the nerves and mind games have kicked in.
Thank you to those that have already donated or shared our media pages, we were looking to raise the adventurous target of £3000 and presently have £1766 in online donations and around £60 in our bucket.
If anyone feels sorry for me or thinks the charity and or Darren is a worthy cause, then feel free to follow the link to help us to help others.
If you have already donated as I know some of you have, then maybe you might pass this on to someone you know who would like to help.

Gareth Bale’s Football Boots Cabinet
Gareth Bale’s Football Boots Cabinet, we received a phone call from The Cardiff Frame Company on the morning of Thursday 28th June asking if we could make a four sided glass case with two glass shelves, polished chrome corner posts and a mirror back.
The glass case will be used to display Gareth Bales football boots that he wore during the Champions League Final 2018, when Bale scored the overhead scissor kick goal for Real Madrid beating Liverpool 3-1.
The boots will be on display in Gareth’s bar in Cardiff and will be next to the (replica) Champions League Trophy as shown in the link below.
The boots will be sat on plinths inside the cabinet, one boot per shelf, and the top shelf will display a photo of Bale performing the amazing overhead scissor kick.
We will be pulling out all the stops and calling in a few favours from our suppliers to complete the project in 8 working days from original enquiry to customer collecting their order.
But the real battle is going to be persuading Tim, our cabinet fabricator, to agree to take the project on…..Tim is a lifelong Liverpool FC supporter!!
